POISONOUS THOUGHTS

"O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. (II Kings 4:40)" Although you may discover through your work in Christian Science that there are many wrong thoughts seeming to claim a place in your consciousness, don't be alarmed. The goodness of God has set a table before you. "But he said, Then bring meal." Consistently detect and reject poisonous thoughts with Christian Science, which alters and neuters error with Truth.

CHANGE IN CONSCIOUSNESS

Our journey in Christian Science begins as we recognize the need for a change in consciousness "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dewelleth righteousness. (II Peter 3:13)"

We are all on a spiritual journey, rising in spiritual understanding. As we rise in consciousness to contemplate heaven as an idea of Spirit, we are at the same time removing the mist that went up to obscure the earth and realizing it too is an idea of Spirit. "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that were therein shall be burned up. (II Peter 3:10)"

If we love matter or this material sense of persons, places, and things, we are being misled. Mrs. Eddy has given us a better and more practical foundation on which to base a spiritual life. "Belief in a material basis, from which may be deduced all rationality, is slowly yielding to the idea of a metaphysical basis, looking away from matter to Mind as the cause of every effect.(S&H268:6-9)" We must face the fact that all matter and its conditions are illusions. Mind is the only cause and condition maker. We are only deceiving ourselves when we let any thought that is opposed to 'Mind is All' enter our consciousness.

EVOLUTIONARY FORCE

"Reasoning from cause to effect in the Science of Mind, we begin with Mind, which must be understood through the idea which expresses it and cannot be learned from its opposite matter.(S&H 467:29)" So we begin with God, Cause, and perceive things from the standpoint of spiritual understanding, as they truly are made, which is the opposite of physical testimony. Hold in thought 'God is All', disregard matter as a factor. Adopt this reasoning and see things as they are seen by Him "I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I (Mind), even my hands (Soul), have stretched out the heavens (Spirit), and all their host have I (Principle) commanded. (Isaiah 45:12)"

"The notion of a material universe is utterly opposed to the theory of man as evolved from Mind. (S&H545:11)" Christian Science does not teach that what we perceive with the five physical senses, matter, is unreal; instead, it teaches us how to perceive these same objects as they really are, without the physical, humanized, material sense of them. Its not what you see, it is how you see it. Scientists, refuse to act or react on the false evidence of the material senses "Thus we arrive at Truth, or intelligence (Third Degree: Understanding S&H 116:1), which evolves its own unerring idea and never can be coordinate with human illusions.(S&H467:32)"

"Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. (I Chronicles 16:23)" Keep thought dwelling in the unalterable perfection of His creation, then, no phase of error (First Degre: Depravity S&H 115:20) can claim to be an evolutionary force.
